Mature Obedience to Established Authority

Luke 2:41-52

51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

In the temple courts sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions at 12 years old, Jesus realized that the scribes and pharisees were not the established authority in whose hands the Father had put him, but rather Joseph – so he willingly submitted to the established authority of God and went with him.

Joseph had constantly been instructed by GOD through angels concerning the welfare of Jesus.  Therefore, if it had been the will of the Father to have left Jesus in the temple as Hannah had done with Samuel (1 Samuel 1:24), an angel would have told Joseph to take Mary and go on home and leave him there.  The fact that they turned around and sought him proved that he, Joseph, was still the established authority over him.

Jesus then realized this also and saw that those who sat in Moses seat had placed themselves in that seat and not the Father.  Jesus would need to know this in order to confront them later without breaking the law of God of not disrespecting His established authority or leaders.

The Father always first goes through those who present themselves as His established authority for whatever He wants to do in the earth so that their hypocrisy and deceit may be revealed and we break free from that seduction.  For they will prove themselves ignorant of the knowledge and ways of God and fear doing anything that upsets their laziness and theology.
